Elements of Meridian Systems Yoga

Partner Organs: Kidney and Urinary Bladder

Kidney Meridian

The Kidneys are concerned with growth, development, aging, bones, teeth, ears, and sexual reproduction – the natural and harmonious unfolding of a life from birth to death. The Kidney Yin stores and circulates Jing, essence, throughout the body. The Kidney Yang is the metabolic fire of the body – the root of all physiological processes. Emotionally, the Kidneys are associated with will—the reservoir of self-knowledge and destiny that carries us through from birth to death. Kidney disharmony will manifest in improper development, sexual dysfunction, endocrine disorders and issues with the body’s metabolism.

Urinary Bladder

Urinary Bladder

Urinary Bladder Meridian

The duty of the Urinary Bladder is to excrete urine. Urinary Bladder disharmony will manifest emotionally as fear, suspicion, and jealousy. Blocked emotions will often manifest as pain along the Urinary Bladder meridian that runs through the back. It often takes the brunt of the emotional pain that we are unwilling to experience and work through. Instead, the pain becomes stuck in the body and manifests as chronic pain.
